In 2009 we visited Finnish Lapland, where we were based in a small house just off a lake near Pyhä.
The most impressive thing was surely seeing the Northern Lights in evenings and at night. Sitting cosily around the open fire outside, and waiting until the green colours to light up the sky with beautiful moving shapes and forms. Mind you the Husky Safari, with the silence and the running dogs in front of you, and the Snowshoe Hike into the Isikuru Canyon were a lot of fun as well.
Our top 3 was:
– Seeing the Northern Lights, or the Aurora Borealis
– Husky safari
– Snow shoe hike through the Isokuru Canyon
Other activities we enjoyed:
– Snowmobile rides to the Amethist mine and the Reindeer Farm
– Skiing
– Cross Country skiing
– Ice fishing
– Sauna after an intense day of activities
