There were many courses in New Zealand, and we played quite a few of them. This one in particular is on the edge of lake Te Anau, with the mountain ranges as a great backdrop for a fun round of golf.

To be fair, we played a lot of courses which were of higher quality, however, this one was our favourite course in New Zealand. It wasn’t too long, fairly forgiving with wide fairways, but very good greens. We arrived quite late in the afternoon from Queenstown (about 4 to 6 hr drive), and wanted to play a quick nine. Here as well we were allowed to play the sceninc route, with a couple of holes by the lake.

Fair enough, we had to share a bag between the two of us, almost dating back to the Roman era, but that made it more fun. We were the last to go on the course, as a matter of fact everyone was already going home. So, we were asked to leave the bag in outside of the clubhouse when we were finished (unimaginable in the Netherlands).

Also, we were allowed to play as many holes as we would like. We didn’t see any other people (like we said, we had the whole course to ourselves, as everyone had gone home), had a great time spotting wildlife, and knocking a few balls about; golf as it was meant to be, really!
