Hong Kong is a great city, spread over 235 islands, where the old and new, the traditional and modern meet.

On the one hand you have the old Chinese buildings and ancient traditions, such as burning incense for ancestors in the many mysterious temples, Tai Chi exercises on the waterfront of Kowloon, morning exercises in some the tranquil parks, Feng Shui in homes and buildings to promote harmony, and the ancient fishing villages with open air markets. You can sometimes almost taste the atmosphere of colonial times .

On the other hand, there is the ultra-modern Hong Kong, full of vibrant energy. The city has an almost 24-hour economy that never sleeps. There are huge skyscrapers, bustling entertainment districts, with shopping malls and designer fashion stores and don’t forget the hi-tech shops where you can score the latest gadgets.

Less well known is the fact that part of this modern metropolis there is a lot of nature, with plenty of space to relax. Less than an hour from central Hong Kong you can come accross almost deserted islands, beautiful beaches and traditional fishing villages.

There are many neighbourhoods in this vibrant city, below some of our favourites.
