Clearwater Golf Course is one of the more fun courses we played in New Zealand. It might have been a bit pricy, but it’s such a gem it was well worth it.

We played the first nine holes of this stunning courses (sort of an inland links course with water) on our final day in New Zealand, late in the after noon, with a setting sun in the background. There was hardly anybody on the course, and it was in great condition, with perfect greens. We especially liked the 3rd hole, a short par-4, dogleg to the right, with out of bounds to the right and a huge bunker on the right of the fairway, preventing the cut-off.

The course has been used often for qualifying for the New Zealand Open, and the last two years for the ISPS Handa NZ Women’s Open, which confirms the quality of the course.

Be sure to play this great course if you get the chance, we recommend it highly.
